VEENAT is a medicine that contains an active substance called imatinib that inhibits the growth of abnormal cells.

 

VEENAT is used in adults and children for the treatment:

    - Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML)

    - Acute lymphoblastic leukemia with positive Philadelphia chromosome

    - Myelodysplastic / myeloproliferative diseases (MDS / MPD)

    - Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) and / or chronic eosinophilic leukemia

    - Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST).

    - Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberance (DFSP).

 

WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS:

Contact your doctor before taking VEENAT inform your doctor if you:

    - Have/had problems with the liver, kidneys or heart,

    - Are taking levothyroxin

    - Have/had a hepatitis B virus infection.

 

PREGNANCY, LACTATION AND HANDLING VEHICELS:

VEENAT should not be used during pregnancy.

 - Do not breast-feed during treatment with VEENAT. You may feel dizzy or have blurred vision while taking this medicine. If this happens,

   do not operate the vehicles or  machines.


HOW IS VEENAT PRESCRIBED IF ZOU ARE BEING TREATED FOR:

Application in adults

·              - CML: The usual starting dose is 400 mg or 600 mg:

·              - GIST: The starting dose is 400 mg and if your daily dose is 800 mg you should take adequate dosage splited  in the morning and in the evening,

·              - Ph-positive ALL: An initial 600 mg dose should be taken as 6 pills of 100 mg once daily or as one tablet of 400 mg and 2 pills of 100 mg once daily.

·             - MDS / MPD: The starting dose of 400 mg should be taken as 4 pills of 100 mg once daily or as one tablet 400 mg once daily.

·              - HES / KEL: The starting dose of 100 mg should be taken as one tablet of 100 mg once daily.

·              - DFSP: A dose of 800 mg daily (8 tablets of 100 mg) should be taken as 4 tablets in the morning and 4 tablets in the evening,

 

Application in children and adolescents

The total daily dose in children should not be exceeded 800 mg in KML and 600 mg in Ph + ALL.

Method of application:

        - Take VEENAT with a meal. This will help protect you from erectile dysfunction problems VEENATa.

        - Swallow the tablets with a large glass of water.

 

SIDE EFFECTS:

    - fast weight gain due to  severe fluid retention

    - Signs of infection such as fever, severe wrinkles, sore throat, or ulcers in the mouth.

    - unexpected bleeding or bruising

    - chest pain, irregular heartbeat

    - cough, difficulty or painful breathing

    - a feeling of being in your head, dizziness or fainting

    - liver disorder

    - rash, redness skin with bubbles on the lips, peeling of skin, fever,

    - severe abdominal pain, vomiting blood, stools or urine, black stool

    - kidney disorders

    - nausea accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting, abdominal pain or fever

    - severe headache,

    - low levels of red  blood cells

    - eye pain or vision impairment,

    - Hips in the hips or difficulty walking.

    - dull or cold fingers on the legs and arms (signs of Raynaud's syndrome).

    - Sudden swelling and skin redness (signs of a skin infection called cellulitis).

    - Hearing difficulties.

    - muscle spasms or weakness

    - Pain in the pelvis sometimes with nausea and vomiting and unexpected bleeding from the vagina,

    - difficulty sleeping

    - Nose bleeding.

    - pain or swelling in the abdomen, winds, lungs, or constipation.

    - itching.

    - unusual loss or hair thinning.

    - numbness of the arm or leg.

    - ulcers in the mouth.
